About us:

Gool having an elevation of 7000 feet (approx.) is situated towards Northwest of Ramban town at a distance of 52Kms from District Headquaters.This area abounds in scenic beauty and cultural diversity, Kashmiri, Gojriand Khashboli (dialect) are spoken here.

For providing education to the poor students of this backward area at their doorsteps. J&K Government established Govt. Degree College Gool videGovt. OrderNo 264 HrEduof 2011Dated 29-06-2011 under state plan.

To start with 09 subjects in Arts stream viz Political science, Sociology, English, Education, Economics, Geography, Arabic, E.V.S, Urduwere introduced vide Govt.Order No 98HE of2012Dated 17-02- 2012.Science stream has also been sanctioned vide Govt. Order No 432HE of 2019Dated 31-07- 2019which is yet to be activated for want of accommodation. The college building at village Moilla is still under construction. Presently 106 students in BA (CBCS Semester Scheme) are enrolled in the college. So far 7 batches of Graduates have been provided to society by this seminary.

The college is housed in the 1st floor of Govt. ITI Building. The college building being constructed by PWD(R&B) at village Moilla is expected to be taken over in near future. However, the institution stands recognized by UGC under 2(f) vide F.No 8-301/2021(CPP-I/C)Dated18-11-2021and registered on NAAC Portal.

This seminary serves the educational needs of students belonging to remote areas and marginalized sections of Subdivision Gool who would have been otherwise deprived of higher education due to financial constraints.

As on date, 06 permanent faculty members, 02 non-teaching employees are posted here. 02 Local fund employee arealso engaged in this college. For the smooth conduct of academic activities, teaching staff on Academic Arrangement is also provided by Higher Education Department at the commencement of every fresh academic session.

Despite limitations of accommodation, the best possible facilities in terms of teaching both online &offline, debates, symposia and co- curricular activities are being provided to the students for their intellectual and ethical nourishment.

Highly qualified and experienced faculty leave no stone unturned in exploring the latent potential of the learners. The students are also sensitized about global issues like drug abuse, dowry, child marriage, environmental challenges, gender equity, personal hygiene, road safety, deforestation and covid-19. Besides international days of global concern, National Festivals are also celebrated here. The students are sensitized about preservation of pristine cultural values, national integration and communal harmony.

Active participation of students in teaching –learning process is ensured through brainstorming sessions, internal assessment tests and feedback.

Other facilities available on the college campus include a rich college Library, Computer Lab, PMSSS Portal etc.
